One of my favorite things about watching Emmet for my sister is my journey to dropping him off at the elementary school after she's off of work. Mostly because that means my work day is also almost done, but partly for a more random perk.
Joel has told me of the camaraderie between men who drive the same kind of vehicle. Motorcycles are most popular, but other kinds of vehicles like Datsuns and Off-road rigs are also good examples. Whenever you see two motorcyclists pass you will notice a hand signal. For some it's a wave, for others it's a casual arm extension with a few fingers extended.
When I drive the Jeep I get to be a part of that camaraderie. It's exciting. It gives me something to look forward to on my journey wherever I'm going. I'm always on the lookout for another Jeep Cherokee, lifted or somehow otherwise accommodated for off-road adventure.
And so, each day when I drop Emmet off, there is another Jeep driver that passes me just as I'm on my way, and each time I get a nice wave of acknowledgement. And that just feels good.

I get to vicariously live a part of that comaradarie when I ride on the scooter with Debbie. Other bikers will wave or they'll do that arm extension thing. We even kept up with a bunch of bikers going down the road for a little while. It was exciting!
