This is a letter I'd like to pretend to write a Facebook friend I have. It is not some one who I comment to even infrequently. Just an old acquantance that reconnected with me through a simple friend request - and that was that.
Dear Facebook friend,
Facebook is a social network website. It is not a political world news platform that we are all required to 1) comment on, 2) immediately stop and write our legislators based on posts made, or 3) give up all we have to donate to a cause to help the latest cause across the world. This is not to say that I don't pray for our leaders and the leaders of other countries. This does not mean that I do not ache over the turmoil that affects millions of innocent people each day. This does NOT mean that I am ignorant and that I don't care.
Facebook means different things to different people. For some it is a place to share 'inane commentary on our daily lives.' I like my inane commentary. I like reading the 'inane commentary' of my family and friends on their lives. And I don't mind when you post your inane commentary either! So next time you post your multiple updates of the incredible injustices going on across the world and scold us 'inane commentators' for our silly posts about life and family please delete me as a friend. I don't want to feel bad about loving my family and friends. I don't want to feel bad for the effort I'm making to change the world in my own small ways. I don't want to see your reprimand for the joy I choose to share.
Thanks,
Me

"Like"--I love hearing people's daily blurbs too. It makes me feel connected to others to hear that they just made bread or cleaned something or whatever!
I agree! If they are so incensed by someone, delete them! Problem solved! I've had to delete two people, one a kid with a mouth that needs comet, and one a negative downer. I LIKE knowing what bread you tried and that a kid is sick, and what movie was good or bad! I like hearing Joel is happy, the van is better, that Sarah plays "what would harry potter do?" (still giggling) Love you! Here's to the minutia that makes up our lives!
You go Ms. Jenna. I agree. I like knowing the everyday stuff of your life, because it makes me feel a part of it, even when we are so far away.
I see it as a rising level of emotion within people. Of fear. God doesn't ask us to be afraid, even though we are promised hard times. He asks us live our lives being a light.
Love you, Hugs.
