Who we are, or maybe, who I am?

I was convinced by the numerous family members and friends who seem to have successful and fulfilling blogs that I, too, should join the ranks. Most of you reading this will already know my stats and who we are. We're a family of three, maybe one day more. No animals. Joel is allergic to cats and well, dogs are high maintenance, anything in between is out of the question. Fish might be the exception but we have yet to begin that adventure.

We are pretty laid back. Joel is the go-getter of the family. He's out several times a week welding, sanding, grinding, and cutting away at his hot-rod baby. We bought his 1979 Datsun King Cab project for $100 almost 2 years ago. When we bought the house he was finally able to put a roof over it's head. Joel is in heaven when he's out there. In addition to his hot-rod, Joel makes me a happy wife by working on house projects.

I get to stay home with the cutest kid in America. I quit my job as an online banking/operations bank person after my three months of maternity leave was up. It was a difficult decision but one of the most important and rewarding choices I've made in my life. I am working on becoming more domestic as each day passes. I have always wanted to be a mom and a wife. I remember crying to my mom in high school saying, 'Can't I fast forward and just get married and have babies?!' Oh, how time flies.

I love experimenting with new recipes. Gardening is definitely new to me and I'm excited about the seasons to come so I can learn to grow veggies and fruits and berries of all kinds. My faith is very important and the responsibilities I hold in the church keep me busy and spiritually strong. I love that I am responsible for teaching others but I feel like I learn more in the process than those I teach.

Now on to my sweet Sarah. Does life get better than being a parent? Not really. Sarah is my energetic, into everything, always an adventure, spitting image of her father, happy, loving little 17 month old. She loves her Dad more than anything. If Joel is around she will actually refuse to give me a kiss. She doesn't want me to hold her hand or pick her up. Life right now is about Sarah and Dad. It warms my heart. As she grows her personality becomes more and more apparent. Example: Today as we were driving in my mom's car I asked Sarah to put her toes on her nose (which she does frequently when requested.) This time she ripped her socks off and stuck them on her nose, looked at me, and started laughing hysterically. She's got her mom's knack for wanting to make people laugh.

Well, we'll see how much I do update this little blog. Here's to new beginnings.
