End of Day 1 - Bathroom Remodel
Okay, here's an update on the bathroom progress. If Joel can consistently work on the bathroom at night I give him 3-5 days for completion. This may be extended though given the mortar and grout has to set for a certain amount of time. Last night he worked until about 10:15 and then sat on the edge of the tub admiring his work for 15 more minutes. I stood in the doorway amazed at what kind of progress happened in what seemed like a blink of an eye. He managed to cut the plywood to size for the room and get it screwed down, he also cut the concrete backerboard to size - although I don't think he actually got to attaching it. Then he layed out the tiles on the floor so we could be sure we had enough to cover the floor - we bought Mom and Dad's extra tiles from their bathroom project. We're going to lay the tiles on a diagonal which should help open up the room. I went to Lowe's (a new one just opened up in Silverdale) and picked up some mortar. As I walked passed the lighting section I found the cutest vanity light that will match the faucet we got just perfectly. It was $50 which was about $50 less than what I had budgeted for lighting. I didn't buy it, but at least I know it's there and I can pick it up when we're ready! Enjoy the photos!

The first thing out of my mouth was, "oooooohhh, that's nice!" Gosh what a difference! Are you SURE you like it better than the little blue tiles? Joel, you're amazing! What a talented little family you are!
Jenna, I hope I didn't come off hard about being frugal, my tone of my comment might have been misinterpreted. I only meant in my lifetime I have reigned as the queen of pennies. I happily relinquish my crown. (And yes, it's STILL really fun hit the bargain of the month!)
Amazing! Beautiful! Wow! You could recycle the old tiles and make a sculpture out of them or something and sell it at one of your garage sales.
Or on the other hand it just might be worth the gratification to listen to them jingle as you dump them in the trash and then watch for the garbage truck as he picks them up and takes them away forever!
