Nebulize Me

So, a few days after Allison's choking expedition, she started coming down with what seemed like a simple cold. What seemed is not what was. By Sunday night Allison was running a 101+ temp and was coughing and wheezing. But Monday we could not keep her temp down and her wheezing increased. After a trip to urgent care she was diagnosed with bronchitis/upper respiratory infection. She was prescribed an anti-biotic to combat and bacterial infection. The urgent care doctor commented that possibly her choking had caused her to aspirate some food/vomit/saliva and was now an infection in her lungs. He also made it very clear that she needed to be taken to the ER if anything got worse.

Last night seemed to go really well, her breathing seemed clearer and easier while her cough had calmed down significantly. This morning was a different story. She was breathing quickly and the rattling in her chest was much more prominent. She also had a horrific cough and vomited twice after eating. I decided she needed to go see the doctor. I made an appointment with our normal doctor clinic in Edmonds and we made our way over.

I just have to say, there is NO place like home. I can't tell ya how comfortable it made me to be back out OUR doctor's office, the service and expertise are unmatched. The doctor listened to Allison and agreed she sounded pretty gross in the lung department. We did a nebulizer treatment at the office and afterwards Allison sounded a little bit better. The doctor wasn't sure if it was a coincidental virus that hit just as Alli got the chokers last week or if the infection was indeed bacterial from some aspirated gross-ness....either way it's been classified as pneumonia. We're on 4x daily nebulizer treatments and the previously prescribed antibiotics as well as our routine tylenol/ibuprofen cocktails. Poor Allison has been SUCH a trooper today and yesterday - always with a smile for the nurses and doctors. Sarah has also been amazing and always ready to lend a helping hand or hug.

Oh, well that answers my facebook questions (came here 2nd) Dad and I will keep her in our prayers, and put her name in the temple this week. Poor sweet baby. I never could sleep when they rattled and coughed. She'll be okay, warmer weather is just around the corner. Love to you all, XOXOXO
