Today I went out into the yard with my girls. We had A DAY. It was one of those day where if I put Allison in a time-out everytime she yelled, spit, or whined then I would never have seen her face. It was THAT kind of a day. (Side note - despite her crazy attitude I still had the random thought that I could do a third baby...not that it's even on the menu but everyone I know and their dogs are having babies these days and I can't help but think about adding another one...but I think I still need a few more years...)
So after naptime I herded the children out with their newly hatched butterflies, a cup of hot chocolate, and a marshmallow...And weeding naturally followed...right? :)
When I weed I pop the little guys out with some random tool of Joel's from the garage. The girls hover inches away waiting for me to pull the weed away so they can snatch up any bug or worm that emerges. We hit WORM CENTRAL today. We must have pulled around 200 weeds and found 150 worms. The day brought back memories I have of Sarah and I doing the exact same thing when I was pregnant with Allison. We'd weed, then come in for a bath. On one particular occasion I remember finding a worm in the bathtub with Sarah. In fact, it's a post on this very blog somewhere! I was chuckling to myself as we went along.
The girls loved it. They were so excited. And weeding is one of my most favorite things to do. It's therapeutic and comforting for me. So it was a win-win for us all around. The girls were happy after that and we pulled through. We ended the evening by going to my niece's 17th surprise birthday party. What fun! All in all it was a good day because we are alive, healthy, and happy at the end of the day.
