silliness

Last Sunday, the girls and I visited my dad since my mom was working and we just KNOW he gets lonely and loves for us to come visit (some sarcasm only because we are pretty wild and loud after church...).  When we walked in the girls ran to my dad excitedly to greet him.  They naturally asked, 'Papa, where's Nana?!'  My dad thought for a moment and replied, 'Hmm, Nana's in my shoe!'  The girls laughed and had to search diligently for Nana in my dad's shoe all the while asking, 'How did you even fit her in there?!'  We all had a good chuckle about it and that was that.

Cut to today, Allison and I dropped Sarah off for a morning with Nana.  She and I were on our way to the local bakery in Kingston when Allison said, 'Mama, I miss Dad and Sarah.'  I assured her that I missed them too.  'We love Daddy and Sarah don't we?  Well, even when they aren't with us they are always in our hearts, so it's kind of like they ARE with us, right?'  Allison's reply?

'Yes, Daddy and Sarah are in our hearts and Nana is in Papa's shoe...'  She said it with a totally straight face and no hint of humor.  I had totally forgotten the silly joke from Sunday so it took me a minute to get it.  Then I had to agree, Nana was indeed always in Papa's shoe because that's what Papa told us.  ;)
