Is there anything better than great food and awesome company? Last night Joel and I went to dinner at our friends house. It was delicious! Fried chicken breasts, fried hamburger patties, mashed potatoes, fruit salad, raspberry cobbler! Yum times 10! Sarah had a blast with their dogs and horses and goats and turtles and fish and chickens and ducks - she was in heaven that's for sure.
What's most exciting is that I am going to learn to can with them! I've been wanting to for a million years but I never seem to find time to get down south and ask Joel's mom for a lesson. So, my chance is coming! WOOHOO!! Strawberry jam here I come!
Zachary made a comment on my last post about food dehydrators...I really want one! I've wanted one for a while. Joel seemed less than thrilled about another kitchen appliance but I'm convinced it would be awesome. Fruit, veggies, herbs, I wonder can you dehydrate tomatoes? I've got about a million coming into fruition here soon. Does anyone have any dehydrator secrets they'd like to share? Or used-machine resources? I'd love to know!

Oh, Jenna! You make my heart hurt. I bought you those jam making birthday presents and you haven't gotten to use then yet! As a mom first, a teacher second, I can tell you there's nothing more fun than passing something of value down to your kids. Canning is becoming a lost art, and I want to help you!! I have been picking Cascade blackberries, and have enough for anyone who wants to have a beginning jam making experience Friday night, or Saturday morning reunion week-end. If you have some jam jars that would be great. Our berries are still going strong (just now picked about three more cups)possibly you can take them from bush to jar (or homemade bread, yum) Love you, mama
