Last night was movie night at mom and dad's. We haven't watched a movie there in a week or two because of crazy schedules for us all. Sarah and I went over to the house a few hours early to get a nap in after I ran my 'in-town' errands. I was able to get the title transferred on the truck and get the tabs renewed for a year. We're thinking that we'll try to sell the truck once we get it fixed up, so if anyone reading this needs a sweet off-road Toyota - we've got one! Sarah had blast at Mom's house before Joel and my dad got home.
When the twins were born (my sister's 4-year old twins) my mom would buy the most random things ever for the kids. You know the super cheap sales at Rite-Aid on totally extravagant-who-would-really-use-it toys for kids? She caved every time she went in there. So one night when the twins were about Sarah's age she brought in a huge blow-up play castle thing. It's one of the big things that has a compressor blowing air constantly so it's really bouncy. It's about 5 feet tall and maybe 10 square feet inside. The twins HATED it. They cried and screamed if we even brought them near it. So it was tucked away in the garage forgotten and lonely...until yesterday. Mom remembered she had it, we brought it out to the backyard and Sarah immediately wanted in. She loved it. She just threw herself all over it. It was hilarious. I'm going to have to record it sometime.
Dinner at Mom and Dad's was absolutely delicious. Nobody does ribs like my mama. Ribs, Brats. Salad, Asparagus and garlic bread. YUM-O! After dinner we settled in to watch Vantage Point. I was super excited because I love the idea of piecing together what happened to JFK with all the film and photos - so to have a modern spin on a similar story was awesome. It was definitely an edge-of-your-seat action movie. A LOT of killing. But I guess if there is a story line behind the killing it's not so bad. I was overall really impressed. The cinematography really drew me in to the action. Even watching the extras afterwards brought an even greater appreciation for the movie. I would recommend it to anyone who can stomach a lot of shooting and explosions. It was pretty tastefully done. Two thumbs up.
Joel and I don't have any plans for the Fourth. Here in Poulsbo we do fireworks on the third, but I don't know if we'll be going to those. I think it's been years since I've seen a real fireworks show. Maybe 4 or 5. Yikes - that makes me feel like a dud. We'll have to do something about it.
