Funny How Life Is Sometimes

Joel and I were able to enjoy a nice afternoon out together sans bebe. It was a spectacular treat. We splurged on lunch at Applebee's since it's Joel's vacation afterall! We went in to pick up his tux and then commenced heading to Les Schwab's to pick up the jeep/truck battery. Joel happened to see a Toyota pickup in the parking lot and got excited because he's been wanting to take a look at the O2 Sensor wires to compare what ours looks like and what a stock engine's look like. He was stoked and we went inside to check out who the owner was. It turned out to be a super nice gentleman Joel's done work for before. He's a bit older but welcomed Joel to take a look and offered several times to pop the hood for a better look.

As Joel was shimmied under the truck the man and I were talking. I had asked if his Toyota was pretty reliable. He replied that he really loved it, it had been a great truck. He was only the second owner of it. Then he started saying that he had an '89 Toyota Pickup for many years that he loved before he sold it to his buddy's son. When he mentioned the last name of his buddy it sounded oddly familiar. Then it clicked: "Was your buddy's son named Rusty?" He laughed and confirmed that was his name. "That's our truck, we bought our truck from Rusty - 1989 black standard cab Toyota!"

The man almost looked like he was gonna cry. He said that he would pull trees down all up and down the county with the truck. It seemed like we'd resurrected his baby! Now I don't want to sell the truck, now that it's got a history! So we're the third owner. Joel wasn't able to get the information he needed, but in a way, we got even better!
