I'm at a loss for a decision. I'm watching the presidential debate on TV as my part to stay up-to-date on the election. As I watch this I have a desire in my heart to vote one way but I also don't like some of the things about that vote. At least I can take comfort that Hilary is not in the running anymore. That would have been devastating. I suppose the most important thing to me is to disallow the insane amounts of compensation for CEOs of big boy companies. I'm not just talking about the CEOs of now-defunct financial entities, I'm talking about ALL CEOs and their board members. Should there be a cap on these things? It's hard to say yes because they get paid what market determines is appropriate, but really - if they are getting paid $25 million a year and their employees are getting paid minimum wage, that is NOT okay. Something needs to happen.
Joel and I both agree that letting the market tank is pretty fair. I come from a family that has invested in the stock market for over 50 years. My ancestors invested WISELY and didn't challenge the stock market to make them a million dollars in 2 years. So I know that there is money being sucked from life savings' everywhere. But when the market tanks where is it's only place to go? That's right folks - UP.
It makes me crazy, the mayhem and foolishness (to quote my favorite lady, Neecy Nash) that people are yelling and screaming about. You know who is responsible for this mayhem and foolishness? The public. We may not be responsible as individuals - but we allowed all of this happen! Yes, the government makes decisions without a majority of us knowing, but we can't place blame everywhere else. I heard the other day some one say, "Where was all the uproar when the economy was booming and these bad mortgages were being delivered?" Well, where was it? It's all okay to sign up for mortgages we can't afford when things are great, ever hear of a rainy day?! Okay - that was maybe too much rant.
Bad times are among us, yes, it can't be denied. But you know what we do have? We have the opportunity to use these times to wise up and take control of our finances. What better motivation to save and prioritize than the present economic condition. This is a cycle, we have had moments of panic and desperation before. Some say this rivals the Great Depression in it's far-reach and depth. Well, look where we've come since the Great Depression.
Have faith. Heavenly Father is watching over us, always. He never forgets us. Take action in your own way to make sure this doesn't happen as desperately in the future. The cycle will repeat itself - learn from it. Teach your children that while we may have times of great prosperity, there will come times of famine and we need to be ready for those.
So, who will I vote for? I'm still not sure - but I know that it is time for a change.

Good post. I agree. Stay positive; use this as a growing experience. Everything will come out good in the end. It will go back up. Thanks for the post.
It hurts my brain trying to keep up with this stuff. I try not to think to much about it and enjoy the little things in life that make me happy like zuccini bread and orange-pinneaple popsicles!
