Update on the wee one

During Sarah's whole life she's really only been sick one other time besides this. Sure, she's definitely had her fair share of the sniffles, but fevers and chills and lethargy only once. Before it lasted one day and she was back to normal the next day. Last night was a rude awakening into what it is to be a parent. I haven't felt anguish and worry in my heart like that for a long time.

Sarah was running a 103.6 temperature when I checked on her and changed her diaper last night. I don't usually do it but I wanted her to be as comfortable as possible. I called my mom for advice and she thought a bath would bring her fever down. Sarah cried "Noo, Mama..." the whole time I poured the tepid water over her head. Joel heard her crying from outside and came in for moral support. We took Sarah out of the bath and sat there with her wrapped in a towel for some minutes. She calmed down and we got her in a tshirt and I let her snuggle on the couch with me. Joel sat nearby and we tried to comfort her as much as possible.

Just as we thought things were improving, her temp dropped to 102.2, we were getting ready to bring her back to bed and she threw up all over me. I mean threw up...it was waterfalls. I had no choice but to wrap a towel around my waist and let her continue to throw up and cuddle with me. Possibly this is too much detail but it's a blog, I'm allowed right?

Last night I woke up a few times to check on her and give her some tylenol to continue to cut the fever. Sarah woke up at about 7:45am and she seems much better today. She's going to be on all fluids, no solids. We're going to go get some popcicles for her to munch on. We're hoping we've passed the worst of this bug and Sarah will continue to improve. I miss my ball of energy running around the house.
This picture is from yesterday afternoon while I was moving furniture around Sarah was laying on the chair watching Curious George.

This reminds me of my kids when they are sick they are never very mellow but those are the few times I get to snuggle them with excessive wiggling and up down up down up down off my lap, your right it is nice but not fun that it comes with the cost of sickness. poor baby. glad she's perking up. I had fun with you guys over here for dinner, that doesn't happen often enough. I enjoy you and your company.
