I'm not normally an organized person. Ask my sister and my college roommates. Ask Joel. I'm not one to need things tidy and clean at all times. My poor sink is witness to that each and every day. But the last few days I've been hankering to get things organized for when the wee one arrives. I know, I have 5+ months to go. Sarah's room has taken the brunt of the organization and elimination of clutter. I've successfully removed all the clothes that no longer fit and packed them into boxes. I've cleaned out her toy stash and gave 2 garbage bags full of toys and other miscellaneous items to the Goodwill. I bought a few storage bins at Wally World: one for her left over toys and one for re-organizing the clothes she's grown out of. I also bought a little mini shelf for her books which are hap-hazardly arranged to say the least right now. I took two bags of baby clothes to the consignment store and will hopefully see a few dollars from those in the next few months.
Next I'll be clearing out the attic - as in right after I finish this post. I'm excited about the progress and quite possibly I'm motivated because it's just one more bit of control I have in my life. Sarah is happy about her room getting cleared out and keeps saying, "Clean, Mommy! All Clean!" Hopefully I can get the attic organized enough to move all the random office items up there. I'm also looking for a way to de-clutter our closet to set up a makeshift nursery for the time being. Okay - that's what I've got for today. :)
