Date Night And Other Things...

Last night our friends James and Machelle came over to hang out while Joel and I went on a real date! They'd offered to watch Sarah last Sunday and we happily accepted the offer. So they came over last night about 6:45 just after Sarah went down to sleep and let us stay out as long as we wanted. We thought about seeing a movie but decided 11:30 would be really late for us and frankly - we wanted to enjoy each other! So we did Chinese food in Kingston, drove around to Silverdale, went to the mall for 20 minutes, drove some more, walked downtown Poulsbo, and then had dessert at my favorite Italian place, Stella's. It was awesome. We laughed. That's my favorite part. We cracked each other up and we talked about real stuff. It was something we definitely needed. I think the last time we went out alone was possibly May but I think it might have been before that. It was well deserved! We had a blast and came home to find Machelle doing our dishes. She exclaimed when we got home, "Aw, you guys got here too early! I didn't get to finish!" We are truly blessed with wonderful friends.

When we were out I told Joel a funny story and he immediately replied with, "You gotta put that in your blog." I laughed and said I would - so here goes.

I went to have my field-of-vision test yesterday and Joel stayed with Sarah. I don't ever drive without her in the car so it's always a little strange. As I drove I noticed that as I passed by a bus and horses I literally flinched and started to say, "Look!" I scan the roads for things to keep Sarah's interest as we drive and I guess it's now ingrained in me. If some one was watching me they'd probably think I was having a seizure or something - jumping in my seat and then settling right away remembering I'm all alone. It's how you know you are a mom I guess!!

My other story is about Sarah and I the other morning. I've been asking Sarah where Mommy's baby is and she points to my belly. Whether she really gets it is another story. But the other day I was laying on her floor feeling sleepy and barfy as she played around me. She came over, lifted my shirt just enough to show about 2 inches of skin, and put her doll's pillow on my tummy. "Baby's pillow, Mama. Baby pillow." Then she leaned down and kissed my tummy. It was the darn cutest thing ever. I admit, I shed a tear. I'm emotional - and I can't even blame that on the pregnancy. :)
