Monday was by far the most exciting part of the weekend. I secretly was dreading it but my excitement overcame that. Unfortunately all of my photo documentation for Sarah's horse riding and our hike has been deleted. It just means we have to make sure we do it again to further document the awesomeness. I do however have awesome pictures and video's of us shooting the shotgun from yesterday so atleast we have that. (Although that's the reason we DON'T have anything else!)
Monday started off to me waking up later than Joel and Sarah, and waking up to a back massage by both of them and freshly cooked waffles....does life get any better? I say no.
Sarah and I went up to Emily's for a horseback riding event. Sarah finally felt comfortable enough to ride. It was awesome, she looked like such a big girl! We had a blast. Emily is officially her favorite aunt. Sarah was glued to her pretty much the whole weekend when we were with her!
After riding, we went to pick up supplies for our hike and then came home to eat and prepare. We finally got going around 1 or so. We trekked across the river at a shallow spot and climbed up a pretty steep forested hill. It was funny watching the guys carry the stroller up this hill. It really makes you appreciate such good friends. I should probably name who attended - Troy, Reana, Chris, Kim, Marcus, me, Sarah and Joel. We made it up the first hill and got to the logging road. After walking probably a mile or two we got the falls. They were absolutely beautiful. I wasn't the only one with a camera so I will be stealing the photos from Reana and Kim.
We ventured a mile or so across and up the falls. We actually climbed over a huge log jam that was braced between the two rock formations. The jam actually sits right at the drop off the falls. So it was a bit dangerous but so awesome and mostly safe! :) We were very careful donut fret!
The rest of the hike was uneventful with the exception of the last leg - getting back to the river's edge and across. Just before we reached the shore of the river Troy ran into a hornet's nest. He was able to escape out of there by jumping over the bank but poor Kim was next in line. Everyone started yelling,"BEES" and I was carrying Sarah so I turned and ran as fast as I could. All of us were unscathed except Kim who sustained to stings to her neck. She hadn't been stung by a hornet before. After establishing that she was not allergic and was breathing okay we hauled outta there real fast. After getting to the house we got an ice pack, got changed, and went out for some delicious teriyaki dinner! YUM-O!!
Yesterday, Sarah and I went to visit Kim to pick up some canning jars and just to hang out. We had a great time talking and I got to know her a little bit more. When I got back to Yelm I went out to Troy's parents place and met up with Troy and Joel where we shot off the shotgun for an hour or two. SO MUCH FUN!! Sarah had an absolute blast. Here are the pictures and video.
